The Valparaiso Family History Center welcomes all who want to find their ancestors.  Please come and view our collection of extended loan films.

Databases and Software - FHC Portal[edit | edit source]

This center has access to the Family History Center Portal page which gives free access in the center to premium family history software and websites that generally charge for such subscriptions

Free premium .com websites include: Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast, and American Ancestors, and others

We also offer training in Family Search Indexing and help with using other genealogy websites.

Resources in the Local Area[edit | edit source]

Northwest Indiana Genealogy Society meets the third Saturday of each month from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in either the Valparaiso Branch of the Porter County Public Library or the Merrillville branch of the Lake County Library.

The Valparaiso branch of the Porter County Public Library also has an extensive genealogy collection as well as readers and other materials.
