What is in This Collection?[edit | edit source]
The collection consists of death records, 1914-1963; also death records of the years 1964, 1965, and 1966; and death certificates, 1951-1963 from the Tennessee Division of Vital Records. The collection includes a general index (with some volumes individually indexed) and images. The state of Tennessee began recording deaths in 1914.

Whenever possible FamilySearch makes images and indexes available for all users. However, rights to view these data are limited by contract and subject to change. Because of this there may be limitations on where and how images and indexes are available or who can see them. Please be aware some collections consist only of partial information indexed from the records and do not contain any images. The following information may be found in these records:
- Name and age of deceased and date of death
- Gender, race and marital status of deceased
- Date and place of birth
- Town, county and state where death occurred
- Name of hospital or institution where death occurred
- Cause of death
- Occupation and residence of deceased
- Length of stay in current locality
- Names of parents, including maiden name of mother
- Burial information
- Name of informant, usually a spouse or relative
- Funeral Home
