County Information[edit | edit source]
Description[edit | edit source]
Talladega County name is derived from the Muscogee (Creek) Native American word "Tvlvteke", from the Creek "tålwa", meaning "town", and "åtigi", or "border". The name indicates a location on the boundary between Creek tribal lands and Cherokee and Chickasaw tribal lands. The county is located in the central area of the state.[2]
