Chapelry History[edit | edit source]
Swinton St Peter was created a chapel of ease in 1806 from, and lying within the boundaries of Eccles Ancient Parish.
"SWINTON, a chapelry, in thetownship of Worsley, parish of Eccles, hundred of Salford, S. division of the county of Lancaster, 5 miles west by north from Manchester.
The chapel of Swinton, dedicated to St. Peter, built by subscription in 1791.
There are places of worship for Wesleyans, Independents, Unitarians; and a Church Sunday ." [1]
