Each class title has the indication of how it will be taught. We make every effort to start classes on time.
You may join Zoom classes at least 15 minutes before the scheduled time. If the class has no participants, it will end 15 minutes after the start time.

Ward/Stake Leadership & Consultant Classes
Stake & Ward Council Leaders: Temple & Family History Work (In Person)
Stake and Ward Consultants and Leaders learn FamilySearch tools for helping members with Temple and Family History work.
- Week 1: Learn about your calling and about FamilySearch’s tools that will help you engage members in Temple and Family History work.
- Week 2: Learn how to use the Temple and Family History Planner. Practice creating a Family History experience with ward members.
- Week 3: Practical application of what has been covered in the two previous weeks.

FamilySearch.org for Spanish Speaking Genealogists
FamilySearch.org has tutorials for managing your family tree, memories, Indexing, sources/merging records, and research. You can sign into FamilySearch with your own account and change the language to Spanish using your computer settings.

FamilySearch: Getting Started with FamilySearch (Zoom)
This is a basic review of all of the FamilySearch.org tools. This class is taught in four sessions. Participants may attend any session in any order.
- Week 1: Learn everything about your Home Page and review different Pedigree Views of your family tree for research purposes.
- Week 2: Learn how to edit, add, delete information and relationships on your Details Page.
- Week 3: Learn the different options in the Search Menu: Records, Genealogies, Books, Images, etc.
- Week 4: Learn how to reserve and submit Temple Ordinances using your Temple List and Ordinances Ready.
- Fifth Tuesdays: Learn about your own FamilySearch activities and planner.

This class will teach how to standardize vital information, attach hints and merge duplicate records, and prepare names for temple ordinances in your five generations pedigree of Family Tree. It is a one session class that is repeated each week.

Indexing
Indexing Basics (In Person)
This class will teach the basics of FamilySearch indexing such as gathering a batch, learning the indexing tools and submitting a completed indexed batch. It is a one session class that is repeated each week.
- One on one help with indexing is available Mondays and Tuesdays from 1:00 - 3:00.
- Also, if you have an indexing question, you may call the Ogden FamilySearch Center at 801.626.1132. A missionary will call to assist you.
- We can also accommodate Ward and Stake Groups that want a class on Indexing. Call the Ogden FamilySearch Center at 801.626.1132 to schedule.

Research
Understanding How FamilySearch.org and Ancestry.com Work Together (Zoom)
This two week class will teach how Ancestry.com and the FamilySearch.org family trees can communicate with each other in finding your missing ancestors.
- Week 1: Getting Started
- Learn how to create a church-affiliated Ancestry account, download your 4+ generations from your Family Tree to an Ancestry tree, and how to use Record Seek to attach Ancestry sources to your Family Tree.
- Week 2: Working with your Ancestry Tree
- Learn how to edit, manage and save your Ancestry family tree, search for missing ancestors in Ancestry public trees, attach new sources, edit names, dates, places, and add family members to your Ancestry tree.
- Week 3: Adding information from your Ancestry Tree to FamilySearch Family Tree
- Learn how to sync FamilySearch Family Tree and Ancestry Trees, adding new relatives, sources, detail information, fix relationships and merge records in Ancestry Tree.
- Week 4: Growing your family lines through DNA matches and creating “Bare-Bones” trees on Ancestry
- Learn how to search DNA matches, use DNA Thrulines, how creating a “Bare-Bones” tree can assist in finding new information on your collateral lines.
- Week 5: 5th Thursday lesson
- Other features of Ancestry will be covered such as LifeStory, Gallery and the Search tab. There will also be time to address Ancestry questions students might have.

Practicing Your Ancestry Tree (In Person)
This class will give you hands-on practice in your Ancestry family trees. You’ll learn how to use sources, research other family trees, add new family members, and compare with FamilySearch. You will need your LDS Church-affiliated Ancestry account user ID and password and your FamilySearch account user ID and password. Having intermediate experience is recommended.

Swedish Research (In Person)
This class will focus on the processes and tools for researching Swedish records. You will learn about the Swedish history, people and place, and language. It will be taught in two sessions.
- Week 1 & 3: Getting to know Sweden and its’ history, people, places, language and handwriting.
- Week 2 & 4: Learning how to approach Swedish research in Church records, births, marriages, deaths, and household examination records.

Spanish Speaking Classes
- Spanish Speaking classes on FamilySearch Basics are available on request.
- We have Spanish speaking missionaries available to teach on Tuesdays 2:00 - 4:00, Thursdays 6:00 - 9:00 and Fridays 10:00 - 12:00.

Large and Small Classrooms
- The Ogden FamilySearch Center is available for Stake and Ward groups to experience and give their own Temple and Family History instruction. The Center also offers an overview of FamilySearch, upon request.
- Available dates are currently Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6:00 and 7:30. Appointments are for 1 ½ hour.
- Reservations must be made by calling the Center Help Desk during business hours at 801.626.1132. We encourage two weeks in advance for a reservation.
- We encourage groups to bring their own instructors, but we can facilitate. Please include the subject matter, number of guests in the group, and whether you need assistance.
- The Help Desk missionaries will be able to help you and answer your questions.
