King George's War was fought between Great Britain and France and involved their colonies. The War coincided with the War of Jenkins' Ear between Great Britain and Spain. Both wars were part of the greater war that took place in Europe known as the War of the Austrian Succession (1740–1748).

General Society of Colonial Wars
The General Society of Colonial Wars was established in 1893. Membership in the society requires that the member be a male at least 18 years of age and be able to show direct lineage to an ancestor who served in the Colonial Wars.
