This category is for places or repositories that have suffered a loss of a significant portion of their records due to flood, fire, war, theft, tornado, earthquake, hurricane, tsunami, insects, rodents, mold, neglect, collection weeding, foxing, or are simply missing records for any other reason.
It is not intended to be used for record collections which have simply been transferred to a different facility.
The most common way to set this category is by using the {{Fire}} template.
See Burned Counties Research for research suggestions to help overcome the loss of records.
