The collection consists of approximately 460,190 index entries to petitions for naturalization filed in the U.S. District and U.S. Circuit Courts of the Southern District of New York, located in New York City. This represents four separate card indexes each of which comprise a different range of years: 1824-1906, 1907-1917, 1917-1929, and 1929-1941.
