Chiefly, an autobiography of the life of Robert Maxton Galloway who was born in Boone Township, Hancock County, near Corwith, Iowa on June 1, 1921. He was the son of Robert Joseph Galloway (d. 1950) and Elecia Gertrude Mattoon Galloway (1897-1992). He started to school in 1926 at Corwith. After several moves with his parents, he graduated from high school in 1939. After completing his second year in college, he was drafted into the Army in September, 1942. About 10 months after being drafted, he completed Office Candidate School and was sworn in as a 2nd Lieutenant on July 29, 1943. He married Dorothy Orene Huntley on June 2, 1945. She was born July 10, 1925 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She was the daughter of Wilbon O. Huntley and Helen Jennings Huntley. Robert and Dorothy had two children. Robert Maxton Galloway continued to serve in the U.S. Army until 1974 completing 31 years of service. After retirement, Robert and Dorothy moved to Forest Acres, South Carolina. Robert was elected to the City Council and served on other committees in the community. He also had his mother live with them in South Carolina and took care of her affairs for many years. She died in 1992.
