Alpheus Cutler (1784-1864) was born in Plainfield New Hampshire to Knight Cutler and Elizabeth Boyd. His Cutler ancestors originally emigrated from Suffolk, England in the 1640s and settled in Massachusetts. Alpheus married Lois Lathrop and they were the parents of eleven children. In the 1820s they moved to Chautauqua, New York where, in 1833, Alpheus was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He and his family moved with the members of The Church to Kirtland, Missouri and then Nauvoo where he was a faithful and prominent member of The Church. The Cutler started with the saints west to Utah but by 1850 he had left The Church and started his own church and eventually settled a small town called Manti, Iowa. Descendants live in Iowa, Utah and other parts of the United States.
Includes information on the families of Cutler, Lathrop, Kimball and Rappleye.
