Hermann Eduard Franz (1832-1878) was born in 1832 at Triebes, Germany, near Leipzig, the son of Gottlieb Franz. In about 1855 he married Sophia Ives (1828-1891). They immigrated to America in 1868, and eventually settled in Greenup Co., Kentucky. Descendants and relatives lived in Kentucky, Georgia, Illinois, Ohio, Texas, Nova Scotia, and elsewhere.

Includes Burton, Ramey, Justice, Stafford, Donta, and related families.
