"Joseph Miller was born March 23, 1787, in Shanondoah County, Virginia, according to the best records available."--P. ix. He was the son of Daniel Miller I, and grandson of Revrend John H. Garber. In 1813 the Miller family moved to Rockingham County. Joseph married Elizabeth Thomas on 24 March 1812. They eventually " ... located on a farm on Silvercreek just across the hill east of the Beaver Creek Church of the Brethern ... "--P. ix. Joseph served as a minister in the church for many years. He died 29 November 1851 and was buried in the Beaver Creek Church Cemetery. His wife Elizabeth in also buried there. Descendants and relatives lived in Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, Iowa, Florida and elsewhere.
