Notes

John Acheson/Atchison, Sr. (1710-1778), his wife, Catherine Clark (1712-ca. 1792), and at least their oldest child, emigrated from Ireland and settled in Little Brittain Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, where he purchased land in 1738. His will, probated in 1778, names three sons and three daughters. Descendants listed chiefly descendants of their son, Mathew Acheson/Atchinson (1734-1814), a Revolutionary War soldier, lived in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas and elsewhere. Also includes Cherry, Snodgrass, McDonald and other related families.
