Notes

George Teter (fl.1760-1782) immigrated from Wurtemburg, Germany to land near Salsburg, North Carolina, moving soon after 1760 to North Folk, Pendleton County, Virginia (later West Virginia). Descendants and relatives lived in North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Indiana and elsewhere. "Some Teter families after moving from West Virginia to Maryland, changed the spelling to Teeter. There was no reason for this change other than Benjamin Y. S. Teter thought that it was the more correct way." (p. 6).
