Notes

Birth register, 1853-1865, may be missing 1863-1864. It gives date of birth, name of child, sex, race (if before 1862 and "colored", whether slave or free), if born alive or dead, birthplace, father's name (if before 1862, slave owner's name), father's occupation and residence, mothers name, how many born at the birth, deformity or any circumstances of interest, sources of information and relationship of informant to person born. Information is not always complete.

Birth register, 1866-1896, is a typescript arranged in alphabetical order by surname only. It gives date of birth, name of child, race, sex, if born alive or dead, birthplace, father's name, father's occupation and residence, mothers name, how many born at the birth, sources of information and relationship of informant to person born. Information is not always complete.

Death register, 1853-1896, may be missing 1863-1864. It gives the name of the deceased, race (if before 1865 and "colored", gives whether free or slave), name of slave owner (before 1865), sex, date and place of death, cause of death, age, parents' names, birthplace, occupation, spouse's name if married, and sources of information. Information is not always complete.

Includes a general index to births, 1853-1855 (register p. 1-53), deaths, 1853-1896 (register p. 1-169), and marriages [no dates] (register p. 1-5).
