Microfilm of file cards (1968-1990).

Cards contain vital statistics extracted from the Gypsum Advocate, the Salina Journal and the Abilene Chronicle. They also contain information from family members, courthouse records and personal knowledge of extractors.

The dates ca. 1800-1991 reflect birth, marriage and deaths dates, not the dates of the newspapers, etc.

The Abilene Chronicle was probably the Abilene Daily Chronicle which merged around 1942 with the Abilene Reflector to form the Abilene Reflector-Chronicle. The Salina Journal was probably the Salina Evening Journal which continued from 1903 the Salina Daily Republican-Journal.

Cards give the name, birth date and place, death date and place, marriage date and place, parents' names, name of siblings, spouse's name with the same data as first person, names of children and their birth and death dates, and where the information came from. Information is not always complete.
