Some of these records are difficult to read due to faded ink and deteriorated paper. Some pages wanting. May pages written in pencil which has faded and smeared.

The information given in school census records includes the name of parent or legal guardian, address, name of tribe if the family were Native American and name, age, date of birth, color and race of each child.

The records are arranged chronologically by year and then in roughly numerical order by the school district number.
