SALT LAKE CITY, UT (30 June 2026)—FamilySearch International invites individuals and families to explore their heritage through a variety of new free webinars in July. Class topics include finding your ancestors who may have lived during the American Revolution, using Google Maps in your family history efforts, and finding your immigrant ancestors in the United States censuses.
The featured webinar— “Friend or Foe: Researching Colonial Ancestors During the American Revolution”—examines how divided loyalties shaped families and communities when the American colonies declared independence from the British Empire 250 years ago. In this engaging session, senior genealogist Melanie McComb will guide participants through methods for discovering colonial ancestors and determining how they may have contributed to, or opposed, the Revolutionary cause. Participants will learn how historical records can reveal not only where ancestors lived, but also the choices they faced during a time of conflict and transformation.
Additional July webinars will explain how to make the most of the FamilySearch Catalog, how to discover family stories at the Church History Library, and how to incorporate tools such as Google Maps into genealogical research.
