OBIT: St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Thursday, 8 April 1999, PgB5; AFTERGUT, Manuel. Died April 5, 1999, 89 years old. He maintained a joy for life and positive attitude even when confronted with difficult times. He was dearly loved by everyone who met him and did not have a mean bone in his body. He felt he was a wealthy man because of his family, who were most important to him. Beloved father of Mervin (Judi) AFTERGUT and Benita (Bert) GINSBERG, cherished grandfather of Lise and Samantha AFTERGUT, David GINSBERG (Wendy HOFFMAN), and Dana GINSBERG. Great grandfather of David VALLES III. Dear brother of Lillie ROTHMAN, Rose and Arty AFTERGUT, Eadie LEVY and the late Charlie, Sam and Louie AFTERGUT. Special uncle of the St. Louis nephews and niece who were like his children and affectionately referred to him as 'Doc', Larry (Carol) and Mark (Terry) LEVY, Judith AFTERGUT, the late Rick SAMSON (Nancy), and Denny AFTERGUT (Cate MUTHER) and numerous other nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, all of whom he loved dearly. His happy, wonderful approach to life and 'corny' sense of humor will be missed by all. We love you, Popi. Service 12 noon, Thurs., April 8, at Hillside Memorial Park Chapel, please omit flowers.
