Our service missionaries in the Worldwide Language Support Projects team provide FamilySearch with high-quality language support for specialized projects, as we enable inspiring journeys that bring joy to all people as they discover, gather, and connect their family—past, present, and future.
Time Commitment
Our service missionary's minimum time commitment is 12 hours per week for a minimum of 12 months, but we would prefer 20 hours a week.
Responsibilities
Using provided instructions and training, you may extract data, review image metadata, update and correct localities, create truth sets, and more. Use and increase your language skill as you work in various projects with different degrees of difficulty. Language needs include: Portuguese, Spanish, French, Italian, Latin, and English.

- Decipher difficult handwriting
- Review image metadata to ensure accuracy
- Work independently
- Enter all the data from the assigned projects as accurately as possible using a spreadsheet or database
- Collaborate by attending online meetings with a team leader and other missionaries or volunteers
Qualifications
Our missionaries are temple-worthy and work from home on their own computer equipment and will have:
- Experience in a foreign language—current needs are: Portuguese, Spanish, French, Italian, Latin, and English
- Ability to read handwritten records that may be very old and damaged
- Ability to use Excel, and conduct internet searches to find answers to research questions
- Work well in a team and communicate with teammates
- Be adaptable to new and changing work environment
- Be familiar with FamilySearch
