From 1910 to 1950 to Today—A Chain of Connections

As the 1950 US Census is released, we invite you to contribute to this effort as we add everyone who lived in the United States in 1910 to the Family Tree. This allows us to create a chain of connection—from someone who lives today, to their ancestor in the 1950 US Census, to family in 1910.

With each generation they can go back, it opens up exponentially more cousin connections!

How?

Using the new Map App, search for surnames or places that are meaningful to you. Then click on the pins to review hints, attach records, and add missing people to the Family Tree.

Welcome to Tree Building with the Map App

Get Started

  1. Go to the Map App.
  2. Enter a surname, or a county/state. Choose a family surname or a location that is meaningful to you.
  3. Click on a pin, then click on the name.
  4. Compare the information from the record on the left to the person in the Tree on the right. Are they the same? If so, attach the records to the people, add any missing family members, and that’s it.
  5. Just for fun, you can visit the person in the Tree and see if you are related to them too!
