Why do I not have any famous relatives?

Share

Results for Famous Relatives come from the information that is available to us. It could be that your family tree—or the tree of your famous relative—isn’t large enough to make a connection. Please consider signing in and adding new information so that more connections can be made.

If you have a particular relative in mind, it could also be that the person isn’t listed in our database of famous individuals. Please accept our sincere apology for leaving him or her out. In the future, we hope to implement a system where additional celebrities can be suggested.

Information about living individuals is private and likewise excluded from the activity.

Family Tree is updated regularly. If a famous relative was previously linked to your tree and no longer appears, a parent-child relationship between you and that relative was changed. As a result, a relationship can no longer be calculated in the system.

Here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Famous Relatives finds the closest relationship, which can sometimes be through your spouse.
  • You are likely related to several US Presidents in multiple ways. The site might show a different way the next time you visit.
  • To confirm a relation with certainty, you need to check sources for every parent-child relationship from yourself to the common ancestor, then forward to the famous relative.
  • People can have millions of 10th cousins because the number of ancestors and, subsequently, cousins, grows exponentially with each generation.
  • Famous Relatives is a fun way to engage in family history. The activity is not intended as a research tool.
