The Oauth2 error message can happen for several reasons:
- You just created your account.
- You just changed your password.
- The bookmark in your web browser is no longer valid.
Possible solutions
- Open a new browser tab and sign in to FamilySearch.org.
- If you used a bookmark to access FamilySearch, delete the bookmark. Go directly to https://www.familysearch.org and sign in. Create a bookmark.

Steps for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Church members can sometimes work around the problem. Go to the Church website and access Family Tree.
- Go to the Church's website.
- In the upper right, click Sign In.
- Sign in with your username and password.
- In the upper right, click the grid of 9 dots.
- In the Resources list, click FamilySearch.org.
