A message on sign in about your session timing out appears in the following situations:
- The FamilySearch sign-in page has been idle for more than an hour.
- Your FamilySearch favorite or bookmark is causing a problem.
- The time or date on the device you are using is incorrect.
When you sign in to a FamilySearch website, such as FamilySearch Wiki, the system directs you to the FamilySearch sign-in page. Your computer is assigned a random token ID (for example: oauth_token=USYSA60C95F93A1E). The system uses the ID to identify the session you are using. If the session times out, or you reuse an old token because you bookmarked a sign-in page with an old token, you receive a session time-out error.
Here are some possible solutions:
- Refresh your browser.
- Open a new tab and try again.
- Delete your browser's bookmark for FamilySearch. Create a new bookmark in its place.
