Where do FamilySearch missionaries serve?

There are many missionary opportunities within the Family History Department. Today over 5,200 missionaries serve worldwide as full-time missionaries, Senior Service missionaries, young service missionaries, and long-term volunteers. Because opportunities in Family History operations throughout the world change daily, it is recommended that you reach out to the Human Resources Missionary Team for the latest information. You can email them at mission@familysearch.org, or call them at 1-855-346-4774.

Some of the many FamilySearch mission opportunities include:

  • Records Preservation (in archives and libraries worldwide)
  • Serving in the Utah Salt Lake City Headquarters Mission (which includes assignments in the FamilySearch Library, Church History Library, Church Office Building, and the Joseph Smith Memorial Building)
  • Book Scanning
  • Contact Center
  • Area Support
  • Business Development Communities
  • Community Engagement—wiki research, social media, translation
  • FamilySearch Centers and Libraries
