What are the rules for discussions and messages?

Please be polite and respectful in your messages and other posts. The following is not permitted and could result in suspension of your account:

  • Offensive or abusive language or content
  • Information that might harm or embarrass living relatives
  • Links to external web pages with inappropriate content
  • Solicitations for business or research services

What you can do

  • If you experience abuse on the website, please report it. For instructions on how to do this, please see the Related articles section, below.
  • If you receive an unwanted or offensive message, you can delete it from your inbox. Doing so does not prevent the person from sending you additional messages, however.
  • If you receive an unwanted or offensive message, you can mute the person who sent it to you. After that, the person's messages will no longer be visible.
