You can use standard JAWS commands to read HTML on FamilySearch. JAWS has over 100 commands for reading HTML. Ten of the most basic commands are shown below:
- b: go to the next button
- c: move to the next combo box
- e: move to the next edit field
- f: move to the next form field
- h: move to the next heading
- r: move to the next radio button
- t: move to the top of the next table
- x: move to the next check box
- Insert+F5: bring up a dialog with a list of all form fields on the page
- Insert+F7: bring up a dialog with a list of links on the page
You can find a comprehensive list of HTML commands in the JAWS help topics. Take these steps on a machine with JAWS installed:
- To bring the JAWS window into the foreground and give it focus, press Insert+j.
- Press h for help.
- Press the Down Arrow and then Enter to go to and select the JAWS Help Topics.
- Press Ctrl+Tab until you hear "Contents Page."
- Press the Down Arrow until you hear "Using the Internet with JAWS Book," and press Enter to select this book.
- Press j or the Down Arrow until you hear "JAWS Commands for HTML," and press Enter to select this topic.
- Press F6 for the text for all of the available commands.
