Using FSC (FamilySearch Center) Application Finder

Technical notes

  • Center staff can find it the FSC Application Finder in the Start menu under Programs, and in the FSC_Support_Tools folder.
  • Application Finder does not rely on Microsoft Intune to download or install applications.
  • FSC Application Finder does check to make sure that the computer is associated with a specific FamilySearch center. Also, the finder checks to see if the computer is filtered, and that Microsoft Intune is installed (and running) before it allows access to the applications. The application is only for use in official FamilySearch centers.
  • To ensure that your computer is associated with a specific FamilySearch center, run the Center Identification tool, found under Start, All Programs, FSC Support Tools.

Check filtering

To check filtering, open a web browser, and go to filter.churchofjesuschrist.org. If you see a green check mark, the computer is considered filtered. If filtering seems to not be working correctly, contact FamilySearch Support.

Check for Microsoft Intune

To see if Microsoft Intune is running, look at the bottom-right corner (near the system clock) for a blue circle with a letter "b" in it. When you hover the mouse over it, it says: "Click to open IBM Endpoint Manager Support Center." If it shows, Microsoft Intune is running.

If it is not there, you can get the installation file from https://familysearch.org/remote/centers.html. Click Microsoft Intune Download.

For a new computer, or a newly re-imaged computer, it can take up to 2 hours for the Microsoft Intune icon to appear.
