Using the FamilySearch Community
Article:
Search the entire community
To find all resources on a specific topic, use the Search box at the top of any page. Enter search terms, and click the magnifying glass icon.
Search results have an icon to the left of the title. The icon identifies the kind of post:
- A question mark icon means that the post is in a FamilySearch Help discussion. The first line under the title identifies the person who started the discussion, the date, and the FamilySearch Help category.
- A light bulb icon means that the post is in Suggest an Idea.
- A speech bubble icon indicates a Discussion, rather than an idea or question. Discussions are in some of the Home page options, such as Community News and in Groups.
Filter Results
Filter Results shows to the right of your search results:
- You can enter a title or a portion of a title.

Search groups
- On the Community home page, click Groups.
- Below the title banner, find the Search Groups box and enter keywords or a group title.
