- Download the free FamilySearch Family Tree mobile app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, open it and create an account or sign in.
- If already installed and opened, close and re-open the app.
- Ensure you are on the latest version of the app.
- Tap the Find Relatives at RootsTech blue banner at the top of the app (only available until March 31, 2024).
ONLY FOR ROOTSTECH IN-PERSON ATTENDEES (those inside the geofence of the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City) using Relatives at RootsTech on the mobile app - if they aren’t seeing the “Show only in-person attendees” filter in “View Relatives”, here are some steps that may help:
- Ensure location services are allowed for the FamilySearch Family Tree app:
- iOS: Settings (main gear icon) -> Privacy & Security -> Location Services (ensure it is on) -> Family Tree (multiple options for allowing)
- “Precise Location” recommended
- Android: Settings (main gear icon) -> Location (ensure it is on) -> App Permissions -> Family Tree (multiple options for allowing)
- “Use precise location” recommended
- iOS: Settings (main gear icon) -> Privacy & Security -> Location Services (ensure it is on) -> Family Tree (multiple options for allowing)
- Family Tree app: close and re-open the app
In rare cases, some people can’t see the blue banner (“Find Relatives at RootsTech”) on iOS, and this may help:
- Clear your cache in the iOS Family Tree app:
- “More” (bottom right corner) -> “Help” -> “Reset all Data and Settings”
