How do I find family names to bring to the temple?

Share

Whether you are using the website or the Family Tree mobile app, FamilySearch provides several easy ways to find family names for the temple. Partner apps in our Solutions Gallery can also make it easy to find family names.

Ordinances Ready

The Ordinances Ready feature scans Family Tree to help you print enough cards for your next visit to the temple. Find the feature on the Temple page of both the FamilySearch website and the Family Tree mobile app.

Task lists

In the Family Tree mobile app, the Ancestors with Tasks list identifies ancestors who need ordinances.

The mobile app also includes the Descendants with Tasks list. Find it among the options on an individual's Person page. The list identifies descendants from a specific relative who need ordinances.

On the home page of the FamilySearch website, the Temple and Record Hints feature identifies ancestors who need ordinances.

Discoveries

FamilySearch occasionally sends you messages through the website. In your Messages inbox is a category called Discoveries. Messages that appear in this category often contain information about a relative whose ordinances are now available for you to perform.

Family Tree

In Family Tree, the landscape, descendancy, fan, and portrait views show temple icons on family members who need ordinances.

Unfinished attachments

In Family Tree, click a person's Sources tab. Look for the message, “This source has not been attached to all people found in the record.” Review these unfinished attachments. Sometimes you find family members who are not yet in Family Tree and whose ordinances are not yet done.
