How do I add memories to an album?

You can organize your ancestors' photos, stories, documents, and audio files into albums in Memories.

Steps (website)

Adding items from the Gallery

  1. Sign in to FamilySearch.org
  2. Click Memories, and then from the drop-down menu, click Gallery.
  3. Hover over an item that you want to add to an album, and then click the check mark that appears within the item. 
  4. Notice the new colored bar near the top of the page. On the right side of the bar, you see how many items are selected. 
  5. Select all the items that you want to add to an album.
  6. On the left of the colored bar, just below Gallery, click Actions, and from the drop-down menu, click Add to Album.
  7. Next to the album name where you want to add the items, click the open circle. Or to create an album, click next to New Album, and enter a name for the new album in the box. 
  8. Click Add to Album. 

Using drag and drop to move items into an album

  1. Select all the items that you want to add to an album. 
  2. Click on one of the selected items. Hold down the left-mouse button as you drag the items to the album. 
  3. Release the mouse button when the album name changes colors. The counter to the right of the album name increases by the number of items added to the album.

Adding items to an album from the viewer

  1. While in the Gallery, click a memory item to open the viewer, and continue with the appropriate instruction set.
  2. Click in the list to the right of the item, or click Actions above the item, then Add to Album.
  3. Click the circle to the right of an existing album title, or enter a new album title in the box.  
  4. Click Add to Album.
  5. Repeat the steps if you want to add the item to more than one album.

Steps (Memories mobile app only)

  1. From the Memories mobile app, select the memories that you want to add to an album:
    • Android: Tap the 3 dots in the top right of the screen, and then tap Select Memories.
    • Apple iOS: Tap Select.
  2. Select all the items that you want to add to an album.
  3. Move the memories to an album:
    • Android: Tap the + in the top right of the screen.
    • Apple iOS: Tap the 3 dots in the top right of the screen, and then tap Move to Album. 
  4. Select an existing album title, or click Create New.
  5. Repeat the steps if you want to add the item to more than one album.

Steps (Family Tree Lite)

The Memories feature is not part of Family Tree Lite.
