How do I find the new full text search that was announced at RootsTech?

At RootsTech 2024, FamilySearch announced a full-text search product that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to help users find historical records.

Steps (website)

  1. Sign in to FamilySearch.org.
  2. Navigate to https://www.familysearch.org/en/search/full-text
  3. Locate the Start your search section.
    Note: The video provided above also helps you learn to use the FullText Search experience.
  4. Begin by typing information in the Keywords, Name, Place, Year (Range), or Image Group Number (DGS) fields.
    Note: Advanced Search Tips are located below the Start your search section to help you in your search. If you prefer to search by collection title, use the Find a Collection field or Browse all collections option.
  5. When you have entered the search criteria, click the Search button.
  6. On the search results page, you can change filters at the top left by clicking on the Collection, Year, Place, or Record Type.
  7. At the top right, you can toggle the Fact View on or off.
  8. In the right sidebar, you can change your search parameters or reset your search and start again.
