FamilySearch center printer begins printing as soon as a computer is turned on

If print jobs do not leave the print queue after they successfully print, and when the computer is restarted all of the jobs in the print queue print again, use the steps below to correct the problem:

  1. Check the print queue. Click Start, then Settings, and then Printers. Double-click the default printer (the one with the check mark by it).
  2. If you see jobs in the queue that have the status Printed, continue with the steps below.
  3. In the status window, click Printer in the menu bar, and select Cancel all documents.
  4. Right-click the default printer in the Printers window, and click Properties.
  5. Click the Ports tab.
  6. Remove the check mark from Enable bi-directional support.
  7. Click Apply.
  8. To test the setting, click the General tab, and click Print Test Page.
  9. Check the status window (if not open, double-click the default printer in the Printer window) to see if the print job remains with the Printed status. The printed jobs should disappear automatically.

If the problem continues, you need to contact your network print server manufacturer.
The situation usually occurs when a print server does not support the bi-directional feature, so the print job remains in the queue, waiting for a response that does not come.
