Optimal Settings for the Canon MS300

  • Mode: Black and white (If the microfilm copy is poor, try the grayscale setting.)
  • Page size: Letter 8.5 x 11 in
  • Dots per inch: 300 dpi
  • Brightness: 9, with Brightness Auto checked
  • Uncheck these options: Panel Start, Deskew, PreScan, and Scan Single Page.
  • To see the additional settings below, click More:
  • Film type: N/P Auto or Positive (We recommend you manually set the film type instead of using N/P Auto.)
  • Gamma data: Standard
  • Edge emphasis: Set this in the middle between soft and sharp.
  • Uncheck these options: Erase Dot, Erase Notch, and Median Filters.
  • To save your settings, click OK, and then click Scan.

Optimal Settings for the Minolta MS6000 or Konica Minolta MS6000 MKII

  • Resolution (dpi): 300
  • Scan area: 8.5 x 11
  • Image type: Black and white
  • Uncheck these options: Batch Scan Mode and Automatic Deskew.
  • Film type: Automatic (If you experience any problems with the automatic setting, change to the type of film you are using, negative or positive, for best results.)
  • Image filter: Sharpen
  • Masking or cropping: Disabled
  • Auto lamp off: After 15 minutes idle
  • Uncheck this option: Initialize from Scanner.
  • Brightness: 15, contrast: 7, with Automatic Brightness checked

Important notes

If scanned images have problems, such as being grainy or washed out, make sure the scanner is set to the default settings. Incorrect settings can produce a bad image.
