The FamilySearch website provides the comments feature as a way for contributors to communicate with each other about Memories items. You can delete the comments you add to memories. Here is some basic information on how comments work:
- You can add comments to any Memories item.
- You can delete the comments that you add, but you cannot delete the comments of another user.
- You receive an email message each time someone else adds a comment to an item that you have contributed. The message includes a link to the item and the comment.
- To contact the contributor who commented, click his or her name. The contributor's contact information appears if they have made it publicly visible.
- If you do not see the contributor's contact information, use the FamilySearch messaging system to contact them.
Steps (website)
- Sign in to FamilySearch and click Memories.
- Click Gallery or People.
- Click the desired memory item.
- At the top of the Information panel (to the right of the memory item), click the Comments icon.
- The comments icon appears as a speech bubble with a number next to it to show how many comments have been added to the memory item.
- Click the trash can icon below a comment that you wrote to delete it.
Note: You can edit a comment that you wrote by clicking the edit (pencil) icon below the comment. This feature is currently only available on the website.
