FamilySearch is committed to making its resources accessible while respecting copyright and contractual obligations. Books listed in the FamilySearch Digital Library or Catalog are not available for purchase, but there may be other ways for you to access it.

Digital access

Whenever possible, FamilySearch provides digital versions of books for online reading. Check the Digital Library or Catalog for online availability.

In-person access

If a digital version is unavailable, you can try one of these options to get in-person access:

  • Visit the FamilySearch Library in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States to view the physical copy.
  • Check the FamilySearch Catalog to see if the book is available at a local FamilySearch center. A center's collection can change, and the Catalog may not have the most recent information. We recommend that you contact the center to verify that the item is still there before travelling to the center to use it.
  • Check OCLC WorldCat to see if another library has a copy. One of these libraries may participate in interlibrary loan or provide other services that can help you access the information in the book.

Acquire a personal copy

To obtain your own copy, consider purchasing the book through a bookseller or other sources. Many books in the FamilySearch Catalog are out of print or had limited publication. Be sure to also check with rare and used booksellers.
