How to Submit an Idea

Search First

Use the search bar to see if your idea has already been submitted. Remember the search checks all of the Community areas. Use the filters to narrow the search by clicking on the “Discussion” button under the search criteria. This will open more filter options on the right side of the page. In the lower right corner, uncheck everything but “Ideas” in the blue boxes. Then click “Filter”. You will see a lightbulb icon on the left side of each discussion indicating that it is a post in Suggest an Idea.

How to Submit an Idea

To submit an idea, follow the steps below. Remember: Ideas and comments undergo screening by our moderators prior to publication. Please include all requested information for your idea to be posted.

Remember, while explaining how your idea or functionality may work is tempting, it is crucial to ensure you have clearly articulated the problem. A well-articulated problem can help others comprehend, solve, and build upon your idea.

Using the steps below allows us to moderate much faster. This process can take up to 3 weeks, so please be patient. We understand that if you save your idea as a draft before submitting it, it will remain in “My Drafts”, whether approved or rejected. We are working to get this fixed. Until this is corrected, there is no need to resubmit.

Step 1- Idea Title

Add the category first and then concisely summarize your idea.

Example: “Memories: Allow multiple album selection from Gallery”

Step 2- Description Template

In the message box, copy and paste the template below. You can delete bracketed instructions in italics.

  1. Are you in the mobile App or on the Website?
  2. What part of the App or Website are you on or where do you feel the feature belongs? Be specific and include the URL where you are working.
  3. Complete the following sentences:
    1. My problem is… [Clearly define the problem you are wanting to solve]
    2. When I … [Describe what you are doing or the situation/circumstance prompting the need]
    3. I want to… [What do you want to do?]
    4. Because… [What benefit does your idea provide? Or What difficulty does it prevent?]
  4. Helpful Additions:
    1. [Where helpful, include additional items that explain or show what your idea is: screenshots, a practical example using person identifiers (PIDs), film or DGS numbers, other URLs or other helpful items.]
