The projects section allows you to manage projects. You can view available projects, access project information, and perform tasks related to each project. Normally the project information is already listed, and you only need to check that it is correct and complete. A project includes general project information, such as a description, a record custodian, and a contact person.

Viewing Project Statuses
Estimating Completion
Project-Column Headings
The following are descriptions of the column headings in the project section:
- ID: An automatically generated unique identifier that names the project on the DCam station.
- Project: A project name that is unique.
- Description: Description of the project.
- Status: The project statuses.
- Est. Completion: The week ending date of when this project is estimated to be completed.
- Listings: The number of listings in the project.
Project Options
Tasks you can perform with the projects section are listed on the left as follows:
- Create: This option is only used to create a new project when directed by your supervisor. Since projects are approved and created by the Collection Operations and Imaging Services teams, you might never use this option.
- Information: Click to view information for the project.
- Add Listing: Click this option, if directed by your supervisor, to add a new listing. Because projects are approved and created by the Collection Operations and Imaging Services teams, you might never use this option. You need your supervisor’s permission to submit a listing. A listing is considered provisional until it is approved.
- Complete: Select this option to mark a project as completed after capturing and transferring all of the images for the project.
- Reopen: Click this option to complete additional work on a project that you previously marked completed.
- Delete: Only use this option if your supervisor tells you to delete a project.

Estimating Completion
To manage people and equipment, it is useful to know when a project will be completed. You can provide a rough estimate of when a project will be completed using the Estimated Project Completion dialog.
Note: The estimated completion feature is normally used by your field supervisor or manager.
After clicking Update, you can select Less than 3 months, Less than 1 year, or 1 year or more and then enter the estimated number of weeks, months, or years remaining to complete the project. From this estimate, DCam calculates the estimated completion date as a week-ending date.
Starting in a New Project
When you start working in a new project, follow these steps:
Step 1: From the PLF screen, select the project to work on, and confirm that the project information is correct.
Step 2: Within the project, select the listing.
Step 3: Make sure the records in the listing match the actual records in the archive.
