DCam User Guide-Appendix B-Importing and Exporting Images

The Import option allows you to import .tiff, .jpg, or .png images into a folder from an external (third-party) source. For example, when an archive gives or donates a set of images to FamilySearch, you can use the import functionality to import the images directly into a newly created DCam folder. This kind of activity is routinely done in countries where archives have already digitized many of their collections on their own or when importing microfiche images.

In addition to importing, you can also export copies of images from folders and from the Capture Images screen. Exporting creates a copy of each image as a .tiff file.
