Dcam User Guide-Capturing Images: Using Left and Right Page Capture Mode

To use Left and Right Page Capture mode, first capture all of the left pages, and then capture all of the right pages. Once the left and right pages are captured, DCam automatically assembles the images in the correct order.

Capture Mode

Important: The left and right page capture mode is only used in rare cases where books are extremely large or wide. If project requirements specify the use of this feature, however, contact your supervisor to obtain the password to enable it. (See Project Information Screen Fields.)

Step 1: Place the book on the copy board to capture the cover.

Step 2: Create a template to crop the image and rotate it so the top of the page displays at the top of the image (right reading).

Step 3: Click the Single Page Capture mode icon to capture the cover.

Step 4: Reposition the book to capture the left pages.

Step 5: Edit the template to crop and rotate the image for the left pages.

Step 6: If you want to preserve the page numbers, set the page number for the first page.

Step 7: Click the Left Page capture mode, and capture the first left page.

Step 8: A thumbnail image of the left page displays, and an empty thumbnail is added for the right page with the appropriate page number.

Capture Mode 2

Step 9: Continue capturing each left page. Be careful not to skip pages or capture an image twice. Mark blank pages as needed.

Step 10: When you are finished capturing the left pages, reposition the book to capture the right pages.

Step 11: Click the Right Page capture mode, and capture the right pages.
