Inserting an Image into a Folder
If you find a missing image or a page that was misfiled, place it into the appropriate folder.
Step 1: Place the missing page on the copyboard.
Step 2: Click the thumbnail image to the right of where the image is to be inserted.
Step 3: Click the Insert X-Key button. The image is captured and then added in the space before the selected thumbnail image. Image numbering increases automatically.
Note: If you are using double page capture mode, the insert function adds both the left and right page.
Moving Images within a Folder
On the capture and evaluate screens, you can select 1 or more images and then drag and drop them to a new location within the folder.
When you select an image, hold down the right mouse button, and begin to drag the image. A red insert-indicator displays, showing where the image will be placed when you release the mouse button. You can move the mouse along the image thumbnails to the location you want.
Restrictions with moving images include the following:
- If you select one half of a double-capture image, both halves of the set are moved to the new location. You cannot drag half of a double-capture image to a new location.
- If an image has attachments, the base image and all of the attachments move together.
- An image cannot move in between halves of a double capture image set.
- An image cannot be moved in between a base image and its attachment.
- When an image is moved to a new location, all numbers are reset. For example, if image number 7 is moved between images 3 and 4, image 7 is now number 4 and all succeeding images are renumbered according to the new order.
- If an image has a page anchor associated with it, the image cannot be moved.
- You may not drag and drop images while in left and right capture mode.
- You may only drag and drop images if the folder is in an open status.

Marking Images of Blank Pages in Books
When there is a blank page in a book, mark it as a blank image rather than capturing it as a blank page.
- In double-page capture mode, do not use the blank button unless both pages are blank.
- If you need to mark the first image in the folder as blank, click Blank. Then select Insert before current, and click OK.
- To indicate that the next image to capture is blank, click Blank. Then select Add at end, and click OK.
- If you skipped a blank page and need it to keep the page numbering consistent, click the thumbnail image to the left of where you need to insert the blank page, and click Blank. You can then select Insert after current, and click OK. A blank thumbnail is inserted, and the page numbering is automatically adjusted.
- If you accidentally capture a blank image, click the thumbnail of the blank image, and click Blank. Then select Replace current with blank, and click OK. The thumbnail is marked as blank.
- Blank pages at the end of a book do not need to be marked. Large groups of blank pages should not be captured or marked but should be noted in the comments field. For example, “Pages 50–107 are blank and not captured.”
Retaking Images
If you notice a problem with an image, such as a hand, a shadow, a blur, or a focus issue, you can retake the image.
Step 1: Place the image you need to retake on the copyboard.
Step 2: Highlight the thumbnail of the image you need to replace. To do so, click the thumbnail.
Step 3: Click 1 of the following options:
- At the bottom of the capture screen or on the X-Key stick, click Retake. The document will be captured, and the previous image will be removed and replaced.
- If the retake needs to be captured with a different template, click Retake, and then click the down arrow. Three options display:
- With Current Template: Click this option to retake the image using the template that is currently in the template field.
- With Original Template: Click this option to retake the image with the same template used originally to capture the image.
- With No Template: Click this option to capture the image without using a template. DCam captures a new copy of the image without the template.
Deleting Images
You can delete individual images at any time or delete them all at once at the end of the image-capture process by performing the following steps:
Step 1: Click the thumbnail image you want to delete.
Step 2: In the delete field, click Mark, or click Delete on the keyboard. You can mark as many images as you want.
- To delete all of the images, click Mark All.
- To unmark all of the images, click Unmark All.
Step 3: Click Remove Marked Images.
Step 4: On the confirmation message, click Yes.
Note: You can wait until the capture of the record group is complete and then mark images to be removed all at once.
Restarting Image Capture After Stopping
If you stopped capturing images to a folder before it was closed, you can continue to capture images to that folder.
Step 1: To continue working on this folder, in the Green section of the home screen, click Continue Imaging Folder to display the drop-down list of the most recent folders worked on.
Step 2: Click the correct folder. A calibration check dialog box displays.
Step 3: On the calibration check dialog, click Yes or No.
Step 4: Continue to capture images.
