Home Screen
The home screen displays 3 main sections:
The Green Section
To create new folders in which to capture images, click Manage Projects, Listings, and Folders. To continue capturing images to an existing folder, click Continue Imaging Folder. (This option is only available when there is an open folder.)
The Brown Section
For 2-way communications with headquarters, click Send/Receive Headquarters Data. To process incoming data from headquarters, click Process Data from Headquarters.
When you have captured all of the images to folders and those folders are ready to be transferred to the external hard drive, click Transfer Folders to External HD, (for hard drive). Normally, you will do this weekly. To get information about previously shipped hard drives, click View Ship History.
The Blue Section
To practice calibrating the camera, click Practice Configuring Imaging Device.
To make room on the image drive for additional folders and images, click Move Folders. The moved folders are not deleted but are moved to another drive on the computer until headquarters can verify that they can be deleted.
The following are additional sections on the home screen.
User and Project Statistics
To see your progress throughout the day, week, or month, click Show My Results. In addition to using this tool to obtain Time and Production Report (TPR) information, you can also set goals, display goals, identify the quantity of images that you have captured, and measure image capture time.
Disk Usage
The disk usage section of the home screen displays a pie chart showing how much storage space is available on the workstation computer.
Top Panel
The top panel of the DCam home screen includes the title bar, menu bar, tool bar, and welcome banner.
Title Bar
The title bar includes the name and version of the DCam software on your computer. As you capture a folder of documents, the name of the folder is also shown next to the software version. The title bar also includes the controls to minimize, maximize, resize, and close the screen.
Menu Bar
File: To import a rework order from headquarters or to exit the DCam program, click the File menu.
View: To access a variety of functional screens, click the View menu. Most screens can also be accessed from other locations in DCam; however, the language option can only be accessed from the view menu. It allows you to select from the display of 7 additional languages. The default language is English.
Another option to choose on the view menu is Display. Choose this to show or hide the X-Key buttons at the bottom of the capture screen or change the size of the screen fonts.
Help: To access written documentation and training videos about image capture—including this user guide—click Help.
Tool Bar
The tool bar provides quick access to 4 of DCam’s main screens.
Home: To go to the home screen, click the Home tab.
Folders: To go to the Manage Projects, Listings, and Folders screen, click Folders. Here you can work with projects, listings, and folders.
Transfer: To begin your weekly transfer of information to the hard drive, click Transfer. The Transfer Folders to External HD screen opens.
Import: To monitor image importing and verify that all images have been successfully imported, click Import. If the import process needs to be paused, you can stop it on this screen. The import screen also shows if there have been errors during the import process.
Welcome Banner
The welcome section of the banner shows the current camera operator’s name and ID number. If more than one operator shares the workstation, check this section every time you start working. If your name does not display, change the name and ID number in the operator section in the preferences dialog.
Status Bar
The status bar is located at the bottom of the home screen and provides status information for the following key image capturing elements:
- External Hard Drive: This section tells you the name of the hard drive if one is connected to the workstation computer. Click this section to display the Transfer Folders to External HD screen.
- Current Device: This section shows the name of the camera if one is selected in the device setup section of preferences. Click this section to display that dialog.
- Device Calibration: This section tells you whether your camera is calibrated or not. If it is calibrated, the word “calibrated” displays in green. If not, the words “not calibrated” display in red.
- X=, Y=, 000: The X and Y values provide the location of your cursor on the screen. The other value shows the grayscale value at the cursor’s location. These values are used by the Image Quality team to check Large-scale integration (LSI) during a quality check.
Note: The term “large-scale integration” refers to the circuitry of the camera’s electronics. It is not descriptive of its part DCam calibration process, which concerns finding the finest lines available within a document.
