Group Activities
The Riverton FamilySearch Center offers many services to all groups in the community.
Come and learn how to use Ordinances Ready on your phone and online. Have a discovery experience and learn how you are related to your ancestors, that you are going to the Temple for. Print out a pedigree Reservation times are from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on Monday through Friday. The visits last up to an hour and a half. The classroom is available for one hour and fifteen minutes for daytime group visits. At the end of the scheduled time, visitors are welcome to stay and use the computers in the Center's central area so the classroom can be prepared for the next class group.
A classroom is limited to 30 participants. If you have more than 30 but 60 or fewer in your group, you will need to schedule two sessions. If a second session is unavailable, you must select a different time or date. Note: If you have scheduled your session and need to change to a different day or time, please remember to cancel your session.
If you would like a 5 to 10-minute introduction to our center, including a tour of our Family Story Room and media digitizing equipment, select it when scheduling your visit.

- Finding a Relative to Take to the Temple - For youth or adult groups. Learn how to use Ordinances Ready and other easy methods on FamilySearch to find relatives that need temple ordinances. Print temple cards and a personal fan chart at our center.
- FamilySearch Overview - For youth or adult groups who want to learn about the main features of the FamilySearch website. This presentation introduces the tabs on the website and how to sign up for partner sites such as Ancestry.com. Be inspired to engage in some aspect of family history.
- FamilySearch Memories - How to Organize and Share – Learn the basics of organizing and sharing photos, stories, and audio using the FamilySearch website and the Memories app. Preserve your family memories for posterity and share them with your family now. Please come with the Memories app on your phone.
- Family History is Fun! – Geared toward children and adaptable for youth, this presentation focuses on the FamilySearch Activities (Famous Relatives, Compare-a-Face, etc.). Intended to inspire young people to connect with their ancestors and develop positive feelings about family history.
- Connect-Belong Mobile Phone Apps – For patrons who like to do family history on their phones. Learn the basics of the four FamilySearch apps: Family Tree, Memories, Get Involved, and Together. Please come with these four apps already installed on your phone.
- Prep for Trek – Patrons will find pioneer ancestors on FamilySearch and learn about them. The goal is to print a photo of the ancestor and write down information about the pioneer’s life to take on trek. (This presentation can be adapted for patrons without traditional Mormon pioneer ancestors.)
- Get Involved – Get Involved activities have replaced indexing on FamilySearch. Learn how to contribute to family history work by doing “Quick Name Review,” “Full Name Review,” and “Verify Places.” Please come with the Get Involved app already installed on your phone.
- Virtual Pedigree – See your entire family tree within minutes. Virtual Pedigree is a tool that displays your FamilySearch tree in a way that makes it easier to find relatives that might need temple work. Learn how to find low-hanging fruit on your tree.
- Family History as a Missionary Tool – Designed for prospective missionaries, but applicable to member missionaries as well. Learn why and how family history and missionary work go hand in hand. Take home a small, personal, laminated pedigree and fan chart to take on your mission.
- Temple and Family History Consultants - A presentation to inspire ward or stake consultants in their callings. Find out about the latest training materials and resources to help you get started. Understand that you don’t have to be a genealogist to be a consultant.
- Group Visit without a Presentation – Take a tour of the center to see the Family Story Room and our equipment for digitizing media. Then use our computers to do family history work on your own.
Instructions for Scheduling a Daytime Group Visit:
- Determine an accurate count of how many will be attending. (Group size is limited to 30 participants.)
- Only one session is available per day for the Daytime visits.
- Important: Make sure every member of your group has an active FamilySearch account for them to get the most benefit from their visit.
- Children 8 - 13 years old require parental authorization to create a new user account.

- Determine an accurate count of how many will be attending. (Group size is limited to 30 participants.)
- Two sessions are available for each of the two Evening time slots.
- If you have more than 30 but 60 or fewer in your group for an Evening session, you will need to schedule two sessions during the same time slot.
- If you have more than 30 attending and a second session is not available, you will need to select a different time or date. Note: If you have scheduled your first session and need to change to a different day or time, please remember to cancel your first session using the link in the confirmation email you received.
- Children 8-13 years old require parental authorization to create a new user account. Please set up children’s accounts before their visit.
- Participants' experience will be more fulfilling and less frustrating if they come with a FamilySearch account already set up, a tree going back to lines of deceased ancestors, and their exact username and password in hand so they can log in efficiently. Church members should also have their FamilySearch account linked to their membership record number.

Group visits for YSA or Single Adult Wards and branches are held on Monday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A single group visit with up to 30 participants can be scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m., 6:30 p.m., or 7:00 p.m.
The visit can last until closing time, 9:00 pm. It includes a choice of up to two short presentations, 15 to 20 minutes, with the remainder of the time working at the computers in the Center. If a presentation was not requested, the entire time will be spent at the computers.
If you would like a brief (5 to 10 minute) introduction to our Center with a description of our facility, website, tools, applications, and equipment available in the Center, select it when scheduling your visit.

- A single session of 2 hours is available on Mondays for the YSA Mid-Singles visits starting at either 6:00 p.m., 6:30 p.m., or 7:00 p.m.
- Important: Make sure every member of your group has an active FamilySearch account for them to get the most benefit from their visit.

Visits are available on Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Schedule a date and time for your YSA and Mid-Singles Ward and Branch Visit below.
Group visits for wards and branches is held on Saturdays. There will be two time periods offered: 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. To allow us to arrange staff and presentations you will need to schedule at least two weeks in advance. A ward or branch can schedule a visit for up to 100 participants.
