Come play with us in the “sandbox” to learn how to use features of FamilySearch.org. These include how to use Family Tree, photos and memories, descendancy research and much more. Family Tree is FamilySearch’s latest product designed to create an accurate database of the world’s families. New features are being released weekly. Leland Moon, creator of the Sandbox Family Tree Training, is an instructor at the Brigham Young University Family History Center in Provo, Utah. He teaches hundreds of trainers who are then prepared to help the general public use these powerful new tools. Through these online lessons, everyone can now benefit from this highly-acclaimed lesson and videos.
Why is it Called a Sandbox?
It is called a “sandbox” because you are working with live data in what looks like Family Tree (even though it is only a simulation program and doesn’t save the changes you make to the actual Family Tree). You don’t have to worry about crashing the program while you are learning how to use it.
Course Description
There are 6 sets of individualized lessons that anyone can do, to learn all of the basic and intermediate functions of Family Tree. Many of these lessons can be viewed in Spanish, Portuguese, German and Italian. There are written lessons and videos that when used together give the best experience. However, many individuals prefer just to watch the videos or just to do the written material. Some people do the whole set of lessons and then come back and review when they run into a problem and others only look at the material when they experience a problem and do not know what to do.
