New Technologies Making Research Easier and More Enjoyable
MyHeritage has always been a pioneer in applying cutting-edge AI technology to genealogy, and this year has been no different. MyHeritage became the first to introduce a chat-based historical record search engine based on conversational AI with our groundbreaking new AI Record Finder™ feature, as well as AI Biography™, which leverages AI to create detailed articles about an ancestor. We also added another innovative photo feature to our collection—PhotoDater™, which estimates the dates photos were taken—and released a new photo app, Reimagine, which offers all the incredible photo features you know and love plus a new, exclusive AI photo scanner that makes it possible to scan entire photo albums in minutes. We plan to continue leveraging the latest innovations to make family history research an easier, more rewarding, and more enjoyable experience for our users.
Billions of Historical Records at Your Fingertips
Historical records lie at the heart of family history research, and this year we really ramped up the pace of adding historical records to our collections. In June, we celebrated the milestone of reaching 365 historical record collections added or updated in 365 days, and that didn’t slow us down: in September, we hit 100 collections in 90 days!
MyHeritage is home to a treasure trove of nearly 20 billion international historical records, including exclusive collections from Germany, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, France, Greece, Italy, and many more, as well as 26,000 U.S. city directories with 545 million records, 2 billion names extracted from millions of U.S. and Canadian newspapers, the full set of U.S. Census collections from 1790–1950 and U.K. and Ireland Censuses from 1841–1911.
Changing Lives with Family History and DNA
Since the last RootsTech conference, more incredible stories of people whose lives were changed by MyHeritage have come to light. Several Chilean-American adoptees, including David Avary, Scott Lieberman, and Jimmy Lippert Thyden discovered that they had been stolen from their mothers at birth, and thanks to MyHeritage and the Connecting Roots and Nos Buscamos organizations, they were able to reunite with their birth families in Chile. Kate Valério discovered that she had a different father than her 9 Portuguese siblings, and connected with her newfound Egyptian roots. Chris Jones, who discovered that he had a half-brother he never knew about, surprised his brother Rhys Williams on Coronation Weekend. These are just a few examples of the impact MyHeritage has had on our users’ lives this year.
