The three volumes of warrants contain copies of warrants issued for bounty lands because of service in the colonial wars. They were issued July 10, 1779-June 18, 1783. The volume of certificates contains copies of the certificates on which bounty land warrants were issued in 1780.

Index gives the warrantee's name, rank and unit if known, number of acres, and number of warrant. Warrantee may not be person who served in the war and no cross reference was made to the soldier when the warrantee is an assignee.

All volumes are arranged in numerical order. Warrants contain nos. 1-1389 and give the warrantee's name, quantity of acres, name of person for whose service the warrant was issued, rank and length of service, date warrant was issued, and sometimes other information. Certificates contain nos. 304-1099, 1200-1206, and 1100-1163 in that order. They give approximately the same information as the warrants. At the end of the certificate volume, there is a typed partial list (p. 3-4, letters D-L) entitled Military warrants by Lord Dunmore under the former government. This document is torn and wrinkled. It gives name and number of acres.
