Noter

Johann Eckes (1624-1723) of the Rhine Valley area in Germany is the earliest known Eckes ancestor. Anton Eckes (1828-1902), married to Margaret Dittman, was probably the first of four Eckes brothers to immigrate to the United States, settling in Yonkers, New York about 1858. Anton's brothers settled in Wisconsin and Minnesota with their families. This history identifies many Eckes descendants who live in the United States, as well as many Eckes families who have remained in Germany.

Includes the Schneider and other related families.
