Abraham Goodpasture, son of Jacob Goodpasture, was orphaned when his father died in 1766 in Augusta County, Virginia. He married Martha Hamilton, daughter of Arthur and Barbara Hamilton, in 1776. They had eight children, 1777-1801. The family was living in Washington County, Virginia, by 1778. He served in the militia there in 1782. The family migrated to Tennessee ca. 1799. He died in Overton County, Tennessee, ca. 1820. His grandson, Hamilton Goodpasture (1811-1888), son of Abraham Goodpasture, Jr. (1782-1866), was born In Overton County. His family migrated to Morgan County, Illinois, when he was fifteen year old. He married Eleanor Ellison (ca. 1816- 1879) in 1826. They had eight children, 1836-1852. The family migrated to Linn County, Kansas, in the late 1850's and to Lucas County, Iowa, in 1860. Most of the family migrated to Pacific County, Washington, ca. 1870. He died at Bay City, Washington, in 1888. Descendants listed lived in Washington, Iowa, and elsewhere.
