John Neale (ca. 1580-ca. 1645), son of Raphael Neale of Bedfordshire, England, was a trader and a mariner in America at and early date. He migrated from Virginia in 1634 to found a trading station at Salem, Massachusetts. His grandson, Francis Neale (1649-1716), son of Jeremiah Neale (ca. 1608-1661) lived in the Barbadoes Islands and in Ann Arundel and Talbot Counties, Maryland. He married Ann Wolcott, daughter of John Wolcott. Descendants listed lived in Maryland, Pennsylvania, California, and elsewhere. Most descendants spelled their Neall.
